Cops shut down illegal liquor outlet in Refilwe

The illegal outlet is believed to pose a serious threat to the community as liquor related violence often lead to injuries as well as the tragic loss of lives.

A 49-year-old man was arrested for the contravention of Gauteng Liquor Act no. 2 of 2003 section 1278.

After receiving reports of violent crimes committed at an illegal liquor outlet in Refilwe, the Cullinan Police went ahead and shut it down on Wednesday, March 9.

The illegal outlet is believed to pose a serious threat to the community as liquor-related violence often leads to injuries and the loss of lives.

The man arrested was released on the same day after he was ordered to pay a fine of R1 500.

“This should serve as deterrence to everyone who sells liquor without a license in terms of the liquor act,” said Sgt Connie Moganedi, corporate communication officer for the Cullinan Police.
