Evander Ratepayers announces its leaders

“Make no mistake, we have lots of work to do and goals to achieve but we are excited and eager to start working towards that future!” said Roshini.

The newly elected management team for the Evander Ratepayers Association was announced at a meeting open to the public and members of the ERA at the Fortis Hotel on Thursday, January 27.

Last year a group of Evander residents embarked on a journey to take ownership of their town and establish the ERA.

The ERA has since seen growth, however, more members are needed to join their cause in the fight for service delivery.

Newly elected chairperson, Roshini Jagadis, said that a couple of days after having been elected as the new chairperson of the ERA by the community, a conversation was had with some of the newly elected board members.

“We are excited about the future of ERA and the newly elected executive committee.

“Make no mistake, we have lots of work to do and goals to achieve but we are excited and eager to begin working towards that future,” said Jagadis.

She believes that there exists within the committee a cohesive unity and willingness to truly do what is in the best interest of Evander and its residents.

“I am proud, honoured and blessed to stand at the head of and to lead an amazing team who has made enormous sacrifices to be at the helm of this great organisation.

“Many hours were spent and time with family and loved ones were often sacrificed to attend to Evander’s interests. This bunch of heroes do it without ever complaining.

“The giants on whose shoulders we stand gave us the foundation which now allows us to foster and to encourage the development of our relationships with our community, stakeholders and members,” said Jagadis.

She is confident that the team elected at the ERA AGM are the right people to lead this organisation and to determine its strategic direction.

“I am grateful to my fellow board members who are willing to have debates and to take those difficult decisions. I am looking forward to my first term as board chairperson, knowing that these are the people alongside whom I shall be working. I am honoured to call you my colleagues,” concluded Jagadis.
