Technicon SA in Bronkhorstsprtuit denies accusations

“A protest that was initiated by a group of students against the Technicon SA”

Technicon SA wants to set the record about their accreditation straight, once and for all.

Cuthbert Mabitsela marketing and communications manager of Technicon SA, said the institution is fully registered with the Department of Education.

This comes after Streeknuus published a story online on September 16, 2020 and in print on September 25, 2020, about students who were protesting at the Bronkhorstspruit campus in Cornelius Street.

The disgruntled students claimed at the time that they had been cheated out of their time and money, believing that Technicon SA was not recognised or accredited.

The students turned to the police with their complaints and opened a fraud case.

According to Mabitsela, the police immediately investigated the complaints.

“The investigating officer released his findings seven days after those complaints were filed. The police also came to the school and informed the students that there is nothing wrong with the school and that it is operating legally. Any inquiries regarding this matter can be directed to Bronkhorstspruit police on 013 932 9252 case number CAS: 170/09/202.”

Mabitsela said it is very concerning that a year after the case was closed, there are members of the community – including the said students and their parents – who are reportedly still under the impression that the school is illegal.

“Even after direct messages were sent to them all and their examination results from the Department of Higher Education and Training for that term and the certificates for those who passed were issued,” added Mabitsela.

He said Technicon SA’s management wants to make it clear that the institution is fully registered with the Department of Education and is accredited to offer national diploma and certificate studies in business and management studies, engineering studies, education, safety and security and the 2022 registration is now open.

The engineering third-trimester national examination is also underway.
