Secunda Flying Squad arrests suspect with dagga cargo

The suspect is expected to appear before the Balfour Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, February 17, facing a charge of being in possession of dagga.

The Secunda Police’s Flying Squad arrested a 32-year-old man in possession of dagga worth about R100 000 today, Wednesday, February 16.  

When the police pulled over and searched a grey Audi A3 Hatchback this morning, they found wo bags of dagga in the boot of the car.  

The street value of recovered dagga is estimated at about R100 000.  

The man was immediately arrested and charged accordingly.  

Brig Selvy Mohlala, provinvial police spokesman, said the vehicle, which is said to belong to his wife, was seized as police believe it was used in the commission of crime.  

The suspect is expected to appear before the Balfour Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, February 17, facing a charge of being in possession of dagga.   More charges may be added against the suspect as the investigation continues.   The provincial commissioner of the police in Mpumalanga, Lieut-Gen Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has applauded the members for their vigilance and hard work.   She encouraged them to continue with the fight against crime.
