Secunda Magistrate’s Court postpones Watson’s case for further investigation

Mr Watson is accused of the brutal murder of his ex-girlfriend and mother of his child, Ms Angelique Fourie (27).

His beard in a pony, left elbow bandaged, head bowed down throughout most of the court proceedings and what looked like a bible in hand, Mr Christopher Watson made a brief court appearance in the Secunda Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, January 18.

Mr Watson is accused of the brutal murder of his ex-girlfriend and mother of his child, Ms Angelique Fourie (27).

Ms Fourie was murdered in her home in a Terra Nova Village complex in Trichardt on November 7, 2021.

Mr Watson had fled the scene and handed himself over to the Norkem Park Police Station in Kempton Park on November 9,

He was escorted back to Secunda where he is currently being held at Bethal Prison.

This was Mr Watson’s third court appearance after abandoning his bail application on November 24.

The case has now been postponed to February 22, pending further investigation.

A request was made for Mr Gawie Steyn to represent Mr Watson as attorney after Mr Zakir Rassol withdrew as Mr Watson’s representative.

Mr Watson remains behind bars till his next court appearance.

Family and friends of Ms Fourie were present at court proceedings, wearing white t-shirts with a photo of Ms Fourie and calling for “Justice for Angie” on the front and “Stop GBV against women and children” on the back.
