Bethal Police arrest woman for possession of copper cable

Acting station commander, Capt Anne Steyn, thanked the community for reporting the matter to the police and for not taking the law into their own hands after apprehending the suspect.

Bethal Police arrested a 36-year-old woman this morning, January 26, for being in possession of suspected stolen copper cable and items suspected to be used in the commission of the crime.

Police received a complaint about the woman who was caught with copper cable in her back-pack and tools that might have been used to cut the cable where it was installed.

The police arrived at the scene and found the complainant with the suspect.

The woman was taken into police custody.

She will appear in the Bethal Magistrate’s Court tomorrow, January 27, and is facing charges of possession of suspected stolen property.
