Three in court in connection with Eskom fraud

More troubles have beset Mpumalanga’s Tutuka Power Station after two employees and an outside contractor were arrested for fraud. The power station has been in the spotlight over the past year for alleged mismanagement and misconduct.

Eskom employees Nomsa Sibiya (47) and Solomon Twala (59), and outside contractor Jessie Kubheka (62) appeared in the Standerton Magistrate’s Court today (November 5) in connection with fraud and corruption that are alleged to have taken place at the Tutuka Power Station.

They were granted bail of R5 000 each and the case was postponed to February 21.

Two of the suspects were arrested at the power station on Thursday afternoon, and Kubheka was arrested today.

The state did not oppose the bail application.

The arrests were the culmination of an investigation that spanned nearly three months. The sum of money involved has not been disclosed.
