Dr Blade Nzimande slams GBV and unemployment

He said they will, through government SETAs, train and capacitate youth to fix roads and sewer spills at eMbalenhle.

Dr Blade Nzimande called for gender-based violence to stop after the body of Ms Nomvula Mtsweni (41) was found dumped in the veld close to Brendan Village on Saturday afternoon, October 23.

The general secretary of the South African Communist Party and also the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology of South Africa, visited the murdered woman’s family before addressing followers at the SACP’s Red October rally at the Risko Fakude Stadium in eMbalenhle on Sunday, October 24.

Ms Mtsweni was reported missing a week before her body was found.

She was last seen alive on the evening of Sunday, October 17 after parking her car inside her yard at Ext 4, eMbalenhle.

According to police, Ms Mtsweni’s daughter who was inside the house, heard her mom scream, and when she went out to check, she saw her mom’s car being driven out of the yard and taking off at high speed.

A cow herder came across a woman’s body at about 16:30 on Saturday and the police were called.

The police later confirmed that the bruised body is that of Ms Mtsweni.

Her car was also found near the body.

No one has yet been arrested.

Dr Nzibande condemned the senseless killing of yet another woman.

He said at the rally that gender-based violence is a problem that begins with something small and eventually it erupts into violence.

“Gender-based violence is a problem that begins slowly until it becomes violent. We are against the evil men practice to demand sex from women before employing them.

“All those men need to be kicked out of their positions,” said Dr Nzimande.

The SACP rally was held to also celebrate the party’s 100th year of existence.

Dr Nzimande said the SACP wants economic transformation this Red October.

He said his party is pushing for the triple “H” – which is health, housing and human settlement for the poor and fight against hunger.

Their focus is on youth employment because of the high rate of young people who are unemployed in the country.

Dr Nzibande said they will, through government SETAs, train and capacitate youth to fix roads and sewer spills at eMbalenhle.

He said the SACP supports the ANC’s public employment programmes because some of those will focus on fixing infrastructure.

“We are supporting the ANC in the coming local government elections because it is the only party that gave the community a chance to elect councillors of their choice.”

According to Dr Nzimande, this is a sign of an organisation that cares about its people.

He said criminals must move out of the ANC because the party does not belong to criminals who are polluting it.

“If someone wants to be an entrepreneur, he or she must come out clear and not hide behind a position in the ANC, because this organisation is for the poor and not for those who want opportunities,” said Dr Nzimande.

In the meantime, the police have also asked people with information about Ms Mtsweni’s abduction and murder, to come forward.

Col Donald Mdlhuli, the provincial police spokesman, urged people who know who the killer is, to call the Crime Stop number on 0860010111 or to send information via MYSAPSAPP.
