Hijackers meet their match in high speed chase on N12

In an exchange of fire, a suspect was wounded in the leg and another suspect was arrested.

A high-speed pursuit led to the death of a suspected hijacker in Delmas and the arrest of two more suspects.

Tracker Connect Company was conducting patrols on the N12 at the Kusile off-ramp at about 20:00 on October 12.

They noticed a white Toyota double cab bakkie being accompanied by a white BMW travelling at high speed on the N12.

The bakkie turned into Delmas on the R42.

The suspect lost control of the bakkie and it rolled.

He was flung from the vehicle in the process and was later declared dead on the scene.

The white BMW took the R50 Bapsfontein off-ramp. Members of Tracker Connect, Blue Hawk Tactical, the Middelburg and Delmas Police and various other security stakeholders caught up with the BMW near the Etwatwa turnoff after which the suspects began shooting.

In an exchange of fire, a suspect was wounded in the leg and another suspect was arrested.

Inside the BMW, a victim was found safe.

The victim was apparently hijacked earlier in the evening from his driveway in Vosman.

Capt Carla Hartley, media spokesperson for Delmas Police thanked all parties involved in the successful operation.
