ERMELO – Ms Annalize Gouws was appointed the acting principal of Laerskool Ermelo in the beginning of the second school term.
She was born in Pretoria and moved to Ermelo when she was nine years old.
“When my family arrived in town, I was enrolled at Laerskool Ermelo where I completed my primary school years. My journey at the school thus began at a very young age,” she said.
Ms Gouws began as a student teacher at the school 17 years ago, and completed her degree cum laude.
She completed her honours in 2009, furthered her studies and obtained a master’s degree.
“I am currently working on my PhD and hope to be done by the end of 2022,” she said.
Ms Gouws was appointed deputy principal in 2019 and was promoted recently when she took on the role of acting principal.
Her roles and responsibilities as acting principal are the same as a principal’s; she is responsible for the school management team, the staff members and the learners.
“It is an absolute honour and privilege to act as prinicipal of Laerskool Ermelo,” she said.
She is also a wife and mother of two beautiful children, a daughter and a son.
Her hands are always full and free time is a luxury to her.
