Actress Thandeka Mdeliswa’s murder case goes to high court

The Mdeliswa family said they need justice for their daughter as she cannot speak for herself.

The murder case of Ms Thandeka Mdeliswa, an actress, goes to Middelburg High Court from August 10 to 20.

The Mdeliswa family said they need justice for their daughter as she cannot speak for herself.

They are not happy with the investigation up to now.

Ms Mdeliswa was shot in the neck in Evander in September and was rushed to Evander Hospital where she was stabilised and then airlifted to Witbank Hospital.

The critically injured Ms Mdeliswa was then transferred to Steve Biko Academic Hospital in Pretoria where she died on September 5 last year.

The family described her as a young, talented and inspirational actress whose family and community were looking to see her flourish.

They said this is another incident of violence against women and that they believe that justice must be served.

According to the police, Ms Mdeliswa heard a commotion between her brother and two men on the night of her murder.

She went out to investigate, but when she moved closer, she was shot.

The two men fled the scene after the incident.

Mr Siyabonga Mbatha (30) was later arrested in Gauteng and charged with the murder of Ms Mdeliswa.

Two other suspects were initially arrested and thought to have been involved in the murder, but they were later released by the police.

Ms Mdeliswa appeared in many television dramas playing different characters.
