UPDATE: Another alleged drug dealer due in Bethal Court

The arrested suspect is to face an additional charge of corruption after he offered members R50 000 for his freedom.

[UPDATE] 15:00:  Mr Chibuzo Chigozie Ogbunkwu ‘Don’ (35) appeared in the Bethal Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, July 28, facing charges of dealing in drugs and corruption.

The Court added more charges against the suspect.

He is now also staring at  charges of escaping from lawful custody after he run away from the team during the arrest,  resisting arrest and being illegally in the country.

Mr Ogbunwu is remanded in custody until Friday, July 30 to join his co-accused who were arrested in June.

Another alleged drug dealer (35) is expected to appear in the Bethal Magistrate’s Court today, July 28 after he was arrested on Tuesday, July 27, by members of the Hawks Serious Organised Crime Investigation team together with Crime Intelligence.

Capt Dineo Sekgotodi, spokesman for the Hawks in Mpumalanga, said the suspect was apprehended on a warrant of arrest and is believed to form part of a drug syndicate whose members were arrested during a disruptive operation in Bethal area on June 28.

The initially arrested suspects remain in custody awaiting their bail application scheduled for Friday, July 30.
