Body of a man found in field in Trichardt

The police suspect the man was already dead when his body was discarded at the scene.

The Trichardt Police community service centre received an anonymous phone call yesterday (Tuesday, 1 June) of a body lying on the gravel road from the N17 towards Trichardtsfontein Dam.

When the police rushed to the scene they found the naked body of a man with marks that looked like he was beaten with a shambok on the buttocks and upper back.

The police suspect the man was already dead when his body was discarded at the scene.

ER24 paramedics certified the man dead on scene.

Other role players were also summoned to the scene.

A case of murder has been opened. It is believed that the man is in his thirties.

The cause of death is unknown.

Police are urging anyone with information that can help in solving this case, or any family that has a missing family member with similar description to contact Trichardt Police at 017 638 0241 or contact Det/Sgt Mathipa Rachecky at 082 494 4729.

Police are still looking for information or family of a woman that was found murdered in a field close to Trichardt on 18 May.

According to Sgt Valencia Koma, spokesman of Trichardt Police, a horse rider came across the woman in the field on a farm in the area and contacted the police at about 4pm.

The police found the naked body of the woman lying face down with an ANC T-shirt around her neck.

Sgt Koma said the woman had multiple stab wounds around the upper body and was burned on her thighs and lower abdomen.

Paramedics certified her dead on the scene.

She is suspected to be between 30 and 40 years old. A case of murder was opened at Trichardt Police Station and they are investigating the case. The police urged anyone who might have information that can help in this case, or might know the deceased woman’s family that reported a missing person fitting the description, to contact the investigating officer, Const Amukelani Kwninika at 017 638 0241.
