Members of the South African Democratic Teachers Union (Sadtu) prolonged their picketing till a week ago.

The protests at the circuit office of the Department of Education, Standerton since Wednesday, 31 March, seem to be in the process of being resolved.

Members of the South African Democratic Teachers Union (Sadtu) prolonged their picketing until a week ago.

The union sang and danced to air their grievances. The circuit manager, Ms Yasmeen Mohamed, was involved in the dissent, as well as the division of Standerton between Lekwa East and Lekwa West.

The Standerton Advertiser contacted the provincial spokesman of the Department of Education, Mr Jasper Zwane at the beginning of the month for comment.

Mr Zwane responded on Wednesday, 28 April and said the Gert Sibande District is engaging with all parties to ensure an amicable resolve on the issue.

“We are hoping that those involved will soon find one another,” he added.
