Annebel Foundation that takes care of 54 girls in Ermelo – celebrates 10th anniversary

The Annebel Foundation that cares for vulnerable and less fortunate girls in the community, is celebrating its 10th anniversary in March.

The foundation cares for about 350 teenage girls countrywide.

Members of the foundation ensure these girls get monthly care packages consisting of items such as shampoo, roll-on, soap, toothpaste, hand cream as well as sanitary products. In Ermelo, Annebel looks after the interests of 54 girls.

Ms Saretha Ferns, branch manager of Annebel in Ermelo, said these packages are not intended to make these teens feel like welfare cases, but instead to make them feel special and like princesses.

“There are so many things some of us who are better off take for granted,” Ms Ferns said. These girls view the day-to-day items we use as luxury items.”

She therefore urged more people to get involved and assist wherever they can.

“We trust in God to help this foundation grow from strength to strength which in turn will make it possible for us to be able to assist more less-privileged girls.”

She emphasised that members of the foundation realised that products alone will not make a major difference and therefore combine it with an education which grants them the opportunity of better future.

Should you wish to also get involved and donate a monthly parcel, contact Ms Ferns at 082 302 5335.

The cost of one parcel is R150.
