eMbalenhle’s new municipal offices are open

The community can now access services and avoid spending the little that they have on fees to travel to Secunda.

eMBALENHLE – Govan Mbeki Municipality says offices are now open for the community to pay services.

Residents had to travel to Secunda for any municipal services after the eMbalenhle offices were destroyed in 2017.

This led to non-payment of services by the residents.

These offices were burned down by the community during the unrest in 2017, as they fought for the electricity to be taken back to Eskom because of the municipality’s winter load shedding and other service-related issues.

“Although the cause for the unrest has not yet been addressed, we were spending a lot of money to travel to Secunda, even if we just needed a statement,” said a resident.

“We appreciate what has been done.”

The community can now access services and avoid spending the little that they have on fees to travel to Secunda.

“We appeal to residents to take care of these offices.

“The new offices in eMbalenhle are open from 7.30am to 3.30pm during the week and from 07.30am to 11.30am on Saturday,” said Mr Donald Green, acting head of communications at the Govan Mbeki Municipality.
