Motorists complain about incomplete road construction in eMbalenhle

Motorists claim their vehicles are often damaged and they have to spend a lot of money on repairs.

eMBALENHLE – Motorists are concern about two roads of which the construction has not been finished since the beginning of last year. Vehicle owners must often repair their cars because of the state of these roads.

“We are tired of incomplete projects in our area like these roads. Our municipality fails to communicate with the community,” a motorist said.

Motorists claim their vehicles are often damaged and they have to spend a lot of money on repairs.

“We are in this situation because tenders are awared to friends of the politicians, eventhough they know nothing about road construction.

“Everyone can see this is poor workmanship and this can no longer be tolerated. The road curbs that were erected are beginning to look like it was erected five years ago because of poor work done by companies that do not have the necessary requirements for road construction,” said Mr Sipho Mahlangu, a taxi driver.

“How can you spend a whole year on repairing a township road? It is not as if you are building a freeway.”

Mr Mahlangu said motorists and residents are angry about the incomplete work.

“We request that our municipality begin to take us seriously and do what is right by making sure that companies that provide services for us as communities are qualified to do the job because we end up left with this kind of service,” said Mr Mahlangu.

Ridge Times contacted the municipality’s communication department and executive mayor, but neither responded at time of going to press.
