District Director of Department of Education extends fesitive season message

“We have collectively motivated our learners to love education regardless of the Covid-19 pandemic challenges, which interfered in our normal functioning of our schools,”

Mr Peter Petros Magagula, District Director of the Education Department in the Gert Sibande District, wishes all stakeholders a happy 2020 festive season and prosperous 2021, free from accidents and social ills.

Mr Magagula said 2020 has been a challenging year due to Covid-19.

He thanked stakeholders for their unconditional support.

According to his statement of this morning, the department is worried that a culture of teaching and learning has not progressed well in schools in 2020 due to the pandemic.

According to him, the district was not immune to this world challenge.

Mr Magagula went on to say that the partnership between internal stakeholders of education namely learners, teachers, principals, school governing bodies and unions has supported the calling to educate the nation, which is appreciated.

“We have collectively motivated our learners to love education regardless of the Covid-19 pandemic challenges, which interfered in our normal functioning of our schools,” he said.

Teachers, learners and non-teaching staff members were lost.

“May the families receive our collective heartfelt condolences and may their spirits rest in peace.”

He appealed to all stakeholders to discipline and conquer Covid-19 by adhering and complying with rules and regulations.

“We must all prioritise life through wearing a mask, adhering to 1.5 distances and washing our hands regularly.”
