Carolina Police investigates triple murder after lifeless bodies of four family members are found – girl (9) survives

According to Sgt Thabang Mokwana, spokesman for Carolina Police, a man (40), his wife, boy (7) and a baby boy of about 18 months were found with multiple gunshot wounds.

Carolina Police are investigating a case of three murders, an inquest and attempted murder, after the bodies of four family members were found in a pool of blood.

A nine-year-old girl who was shot three times was still breathing when a family member walked in on the horrific scene.

The incident took place at about 2am on 25 November in Ext 4 Silobela location in Carolina.

Sgt Mokwana said: “On arrival at the scene the body of the woman was found in the first bedroom with three gunshot wounds in her back, and the baby boy was found lying on the bed with a gunshot wound to his head.”

In the second bedroom the body of the seven-year-old boy was found with a gunshot wound to the head, with the father next to him with a gunshot wound entering from the left ear.

A licensed 9mm firearm belonging to the father was found on the floor next to his body.

The girl was shot three times, in her right hand, left arm and in the head.

“According to the doctors at Carolina Hospital, the bullet got stuck in her skull and she was transferred to Witbank Hospital.”

Sgt Mokwana said that the man’s brother who is from Witbank, exchanged vehicles with his brother on 26 November, but became worried when he did not return or pick up his phone.

Neighbours told the police that they heard the gunshots at about 2am.

“This is an unfortunate incident at the beginning of the 16 days of Activism.”

Domestic violence is suspected in the matter and the police are still investigating.
