She was kept in custody until Friday when she was released on R8 000 bail.

BETHAL – The property rental agent for a Chinese man, whom she is suspected of kidnapping and robbing, has been released on bail on Friday, 6 November.

Sgt Cynthia Mtshweni, spokesman for the eMzinoni Police, said Ms Leah Motsweni was arrested on 27 October in connection with kidnapping, robbery, assault and fraud.

According to a source close to the case, the Chinese property owner and two of his employees travelled from Gauteng to eMzinoni for an alleged meeting with Ms Motsweni on 9 October.

She allegedly handled all the property rentals for this businessman.

The Chinese claimed that when they arrived at eMzinoni, the two employees allegedly colluded with Ms Motsweni and two unidentified men to take the businessman hostage.

He told the police that he was held against his will for several days.

During this time, he was allegedly forced to transfer large sums of money into the bank accounts of his captors.

The businessman reported the incident to the police after he was released, but by then the two employees and the two unidentified men who pounced on him at the meeting he had with Ms Motsweni, fled and have not yet been arrested.

She was kept in custody until Friday when she was released on R8 000 bail.

The case was postponed to 20 November.
