Church in Secunda celebrates one year

When Koinonia Christian Church began a year ago, it took off with only 10 in the congregation. Today they have grown to more than 60 members and this all through the thanks and praise to God.

SECUNDA – The Koinonia Christian Church recently celebrated their one year birthday.

The day’s festivities were enjoyed by the whole congregation.

Past Neels and Ms Mitzi Beyers said they give all the praise and glory to God for this milestone achieved.

“We are extremely thankful toward God for His abundance and blessings upon our congregation.

“We also want to thank the congregation for the foundation and growth built over the past year. Thank you to every member and all our friends for all your loyalty and cooperation to make this work under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Without you this would not have been possible,” said Past Beyers.

When Koinonia Christian Church began a year ago, it took off with only 10 in the congregation. Today they have grown to more than 60 members.

Past Beyers said the glue that hold the church together is the congregation’s love; love for the truth of God’s word and love for one another.

The church uses the standard translation of God’s word, or in other words the old 1933/53 Bible translation.

“The preaching is especially aimed at equipping our members for the difficult times we are living in now. Discipleship and equipment are therefore a high priority for us

He said: “Our vision and planning for 2021 includes the appointment of Past Pieter and Ms Mari de Bruin. They are going to serve the congregation in Botswana, as well as the youth in Secunda. They will be joining us by the end of October.

“Furthermore, we are in the process, in collaboration with Rev Peet and Ms Louise Schoeman, to begin the Koinonia Theological Center in the church building.

“It is truly a versatile field of ministry to which the Lord has led us,” said Past Beyers.

Training is said to begin in January 2021. People from the community and other churches can also attend some of the courses separately if they do not want to complete the entire course.

For example, there are special modules such as communication and relationships that a person can do for personal enrichment and effectiveness. Training will be done mainly on Monday evenings.

There are also plans in the future to offer a correspondence course for people who are not nearby.

The setup here also includes a Community Counseling Center, run by Past Beukes and Rev Schoeman, who also serve people with health services through the Rife, Detox and ETAScan devices.

The Church Building is located in the Five Star Spar Center, across from KFC.

Service times on Sundays are at 9am and 6pm.

Prayer evenings are on Wednesdays are at 6pm.

Youth evenings are on Fridays at 6pm.
