SECUNDA – Mr Hein Badenhorst (76) died in Kloof Hospital in Pretoria last night (2 November) at about 11.30pm.

His wife, Ms Hester Badenhorst, said his gall bladder burst two months ago and since then he has not fully recovered and been himself.

After his gall bladder burst, he spent 10 weeks in the intensive care unit of the hospital and was transferred to a normal ward recently.

“We saw yesterday the end was near, he lost so much weight and he looked so tired,” said Ms Badenhorst.

Mr Badenhorst had an infection and was not able to eat lately.

He left big footprints in the community as a DA councillor, colleague, friend and former teacher.

He was the head of a college in Evander for 24 years and will be remembered by many students.

He was known as a rugby coach in many circles at local schools.

Mr Badenhorst leaves behind his wife, three children and daughters-in-law, and five grandchildren.
