8-year-old watches his father being shot dead in front of him in Wesselton

“His son had some blood stains on him and it is assumed he tried to wake up his father.”

Mr Welile William Dludlu was shot seven times in front of his 8-year-old son in Wesselton on 15 October at about 7.30 pm.

According to Capt Carla Prinsloo, spokesman of Ermelo Police, it is alleged that a suspect came to Mr Dludlu’s house and requested help with a vehicle.

Capt Prinsloo said: “The wife of the victim explained that it was not unusual as her husband knew how to repair vehicles.”

She added, the suspect lured the victim from his home.

Mr Dludlu took his son with when he left the house.

Capt Prinsloo said: “When he got out of his vehicle and approached the other vehicle, Mr Dludlu was shot seven times and died on scene.

“His son had some blood stains on him and it is assumed he tried to wake up his father.”

She explained, the son ran home to tell the family and that was when emergency services were notified.

The suspects fled in a vehicle.

Ermelo police requested locals who have any information about the incident, to contact Col B Mokwena at 082 556 5689.
