Masizakhe Secondary School’s matriculants operate normal after three educators were arrested

According to Brig Leonard Hlathi, spokesman for provincial police, bail was set at R1 000 and they will appear in the Breyten Magistrate Court on 18 September.

Three educators of Masizakhe Secondary School were arrested shortly after learners protested against corporal punishment in Breyten on 1 September.

The teachers including the principal, were charged with assault with the intention to cause grievous bodily harm.

The three suspects appeared in the Ermelo Magistrate Court on 2 September.

According to Brig Leonard Hlathi, spokesman for provincial police, bail was set at R1 000 and they will appear in the Breyten Magistrate Court on 18 September.

Mr Zenzele Zulu, chairperson of the School Governing Body (SGB) at the school, said; “School operations have not been normal, not because of the incident that occurred, but because the Department of Education’s failure to sort out the ablution facilities.”
