Mr Christo Dippenaar, businessman, appeared in the Standerton Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 11 September on a crimen injuria charge.
The EFF opened a case against him after an altercation at the Clicks store at the Monument Centre.
A video depicting the conduct of the suspect circulated on social media.
According to the communications officer of the Standerton Police, W/O Nkosinati Knayile, the suspect was remanded in custody and the next court appearance was scheduled for Monday, 14 September.
This follows the national strikes at Clicks stores after a shampoo advertisement, depicting the difference between the hair of black and white women, caused an uproar.
EFF-supporters in town made their intention clear to boycott the businessman’s enterprises on Friday, 11 September.
The Standerton Advertiser also took note of the party’s intention to protest in front of the court.
