Standerton’s Ratepayers Association gearing up for legal battle with Lekwa

They issued a press release last week and thanked all businesses and community members for supporting them by contributing money.

The Ratepayers Association in Standerton is out of the blocks in their legal battle with the Lekwa Municipality.

The association is in the hand of Mr Fanie Potgieter (chairman), Mr Gary van Aswegen (vice-chairman), Mr Wilhelm Prinsloo (treasurer), Ms Rozanne van Deventer (secretary), Ms Wilma Venter (media spokesman), Mr Ronald Tsotetsi (politics), Mr Pheelo Mlotshwa and Ms Venter (social side), Mr Gabriel Mogale and Mr Sizwe Dlamini (technical side), Mr Conrad Cloete (legal side) and the supporting team consists of Mr Yunus Omar and Mr Louis Bibbey.

They issued a press release last week and thanked all businesses and community members for supporting them by contributing money.

According to the statement, more funds are still needed and contributions will be highly appreciated. They reiterated their resolve for clean water, sewerage services, electricity supply and repairing of potholes.

Ratepayers had a committee meeting on 24 June and decided that each committee member will appoint task teams to help in their respective field of experience.

According to them, committee members will begin with groundwork to find possible solutions to challenges.

As regards Eskom, four committee members were appointed to engage in a meeting with the power utility to resolve the problem with electricity outages.
