UPDATE: Remains found in burnt down house in Secunda

A friend of Ms Dagnicourt was in the house. He was taken to hospital by ER24 and later transported to Millpark Hospital as his condition worsened.

1pm: Tuesday, 16 June  – UPDATE: Remains found in burnt down house

SECUNDA – After two days the remains of two people were found in the house that burnt down on Sunday, 14 June in Boston Street.

The identification of the remains are yet to be determined.

Capt Gerhard Elmes, police spokesman, said that more information will be made available once the persons are identified.

Delta 1, Roman Alarms and Mavcorp Emergency Services were also on the scene.

 

15 June: Search for mother and son continue after house fire in Secunda

SECUNDA – The search for Ms Odette Dagnicourt (33) and her son, Jean-Stevens Janse van Rensburg (6) still continues.

The search began when the fire brigade and emergency services responded to a house fire in Boston Street, on the morning of 14 June.

Ms Dagnicourt her son and daughter Shianette Jansen van Rensburg (12) were nowhere to be found in the burnt down house.

A search ensued and the daughter was found. She had spent the night with a family member.

A friend of Ms Dagnicourt was in the house. He was taken to hospital by ER24 and later transported to Millpark Hospital as his condition worsened.

The Police’s forensic team is still investigating.

Delta 1 Rescue Diving and the Police K9 unit were on the scene at the time of going to press.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.

The house caught fire in Boston Street on 14 June.
