Sassa keeps its promise to pay special Covid-19 relief to at least 100 000 clients

The statement concluded by saying that there is no cut-off date for this special relief grant.

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) issued a press release today, citing that 116 867 clients who applied for the social relief of distress grant, were paid by 31 May.

Sassa has already approved 666 381 clients of which banking details are awaited. The applications of about 1 236 492 clients are being finalised by verifying income at Sars.

The more than 1 597 127 clients, whose applications were not approved, have some or other means of income.

Applicants were reminded to respond immediately to an SMS from Sassa to provide their banking details through a secure link.

The statement concluded by saying that there is no cut-off date for this special relief grant.

Anyone, who meets the qualifying criteria, should lodge an application without delay.
