eMBALENHLE – Angry residents have burned down the house of a suspected gang member in Extension 17.

This came after a clash between police and angry residents.

The residents wanted to deal with gangsters themselves who have been allegedly terrorising the community since last week.

It is alleged that the community began mobilising themselves yesterday after an old lady was robbed and assaulted by the gangs.

According to the residents the gangs were assaulting everyone in the road last night.

It is alleged the gangs were armed with various weapons, including fire arms.

Earlier today residents went to a house suspected to be that of one of the gangs.

A large number of residents gathered around the house demanding that the suspects come out.

Police fired rubber bullets to disperse the crowd.
