Cash-in-transit suspects sought

Police ask public’s help to identify armed robbers

KRIEL- The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI) last week asked the public to help them identify a group of gunmen who robbed a SBV cash delivery truck and stole an undisclosed amount of money in Kriel on 29 August 2019.

The SBV security guards were allegedly confronted by a number of heavily armed suspects wearing uniforms similar to theirs, while loading cash into an auto teller machine. The SBV guards were forced to open the armoured vehicle’s vault while being threatened with explosives.

In the process, one crew member was shot twice, but survived the attack.

The suspects fled the scene in a silver Toyota van and a Toyota Etios, taking along the truck keys.

Anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the armed robbers is urged to contact the investigating officer, Capt Thembi-Nkosi Nkambule on 082 303 9872, alternatively to contact the police’s Crime Stop number at 086 00 10111 or to provide information via the police’s MYSAPS-App.

All information will be treated with strictest confidence and callers may remain anonymous.
