Rhys and Dyllan keep busy during lockdown

Besides having their daily chores around the house and garden, Ms Miller said that when the boys are playing they are learning different things at the same time. “I saw this time as an unplanned holiday for us and to make most of the lockdown period we have together. I want to go back to basics and do things I did as a child.”

SECUNDA – Mother of two, Ms Adele Boast-Miller and her dad Mr Rob Boast has made the past few days of lockdown as busy, entertaining, fun and educational as possible for her boys Rhys Miller (11) and Dyllan Miller (8).

Besides having their daily chores around the house and garden, Ms Miller said that when the boys are playing they are learning different things at the same time.

“I saw this time as an unplanned holiday for us and to make most of the lockdown period we have together. I want to go back to basics and do things I did as a child.”

With a couple of tins and a very long sting, both boys did a simple and quick project together by making string telephones. They were pretty excited and kept entertained for a long time when they saw the string telephones actually worked.

“We keep a lot of tins, bottle caps and empty containers for crafts, and Dyllan came up with the idea to make string telephones,” said Ms Miller.

The boys grandfather, Mr Rob Boast, had some cement mixing and used this opportunity as not only to show them how to learn to mix cement and lay it down but also making memories as this lockdown going into our book of history.

“My father got them to put their hands in the cement with the date. Something they can see every day to remember history.”

Ms Miller and her father are currently busy with a project of building the boys their own hide out in the garage.

“We saw this as an opportunity to build the boys a hide out when schools closed early.”

“I try to plan something fun for each day. We go day by day, all depending on the weather or if we have power or not,” said Ms Miller.

She also allocates time in their day to focus on education and school work they were given to do.
