Dog that was tied up and left to die, is now called Hope

Although adoptions are not allowed during the lockdown period, Hope will be more than ready to go to her forever home after the lockdown where she can be loved and never again be abandoned.

EVANDER – Hope is slowly, but surely shaking off her distrust in humans.

This white-and-light brown dog has lots of reason to fear mankind, but the love bestowed on her at the Highveld Ridge SPCA is breaking down all the barriers.

Visitors from Randburg spotted Hope on 21 March near Leeupan Dam where she was left in a box to die.

Her front and hind legs were tied together and she had two deep cuts on the side of her tummy.

Her rescuers took her to the SPCA.

Hope was rushed to a local vet who stitched her up and gave her pain medication.

“I shudder to think what would have happened if these people did not stop to help the dog. She would have died a slow, painful, cruel and lonely death,” said Ms Chanelle Oosthuizen.

The team at the Highveld Ridge SPCA believes this young dog gave birth to puppies prior to being dumped.

They decided to name her Hope, because she received a second chance.

Ms Oosthuizen said the pooch has warmed to affection since her ordeal and is doing well.

She will be visiting the vet this week for a check-up.

Although adoptions are not allowed during the lockdown period, Hope will be more than ready to go to her forever home after the lockdown where she can be loved and never again be abandoned.

Anyone interested in adopting Hope, may already ask for an application form.
