Carolina Police advise liquor outlets owners to comply with the Liquor License Law

Carolina Police management has noted with concern that most liquor outlets are operating beyond the operating times stipulated on their licenses.

Carolina Police advised all liquor outlet owners to comply with the Liquor License Act.

According to Sgt Thabang Mokwana, spokesman for Carolina Police, Carolina is experiencing a number of assaults, rapes, robberies and domestic violence cases all with a correlation with taverns.

“People are assaulting one another at taverns or on their way home from taverns, others are raped or robbed on their way home.”

These crimes take place during the early hours of the morning of Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays.

Carolina Police management has noted with concern that most liquor outlets are operating beyond the operating times stipulated on their licenses.

No liquor outlet is allowed to operate after 2am.

“We want to reduce crime in our area request that all liquor outlet owners assist us by operating within the given times.

“If the owners do not comply with the act, the police will ensure that the law is enforced in terms of the Mpumalanga Liquor Licensing Act 05 of 2006.”
