Hoërskool Secunda learners are good at public speaking

SECUNDA – Hoërskool Secunda’s Grade 10 and 11 public speaking teams excelled at the Speech and Drama College of South Africa’s public speaking contest for high school learners.

Henri Viljoen of Hoërskool Secunda obtained a B+ symbol in the Grade 11 individual competition and the Grade 11 team obtained a C+ symbol. The two Grade 10 teams obtained B+ symbols.

It is the biggest public speaking competition in Gauteng and it is the 59th year of this competition.

A total of 3 000 learners took part in the competition this year.

Ms Magriet Pieterse, spokesman of Hoërskool Secunda, thanked Ms Stacha Pretorius and Ms Nicole Ferguson, English teachers at the school, for their hard work with the learners.
