Volunteers at drop-in centre reach out to children of eMbalenhle

Children take food home for siblings

eMBALENHLE – A drop-in centre of the Trinity Bible Church urgently needs donations.

Ms Mable Lubisi, coordinator of the centre, said they provide food to children who do not get food at home.

“It is mostly orphans living with family members where there is no food in the house, that come to our centre in the afternoons after school,” said Ms Lubisi.

The drop-in centre is open from Monday to Friday and they daily cook the food they have in stock for the children.

“Sometimes if we know there is no food at their homes, we also give them food for the weekend. When the children did not want to eat the food here, but brought containers to rather take food home to share with their hungry siblings, we realised the magnitude of this need.”

Roots Butchery and Kwasishebo Emthonjeni Butchery sponsor food for the drop-in centre and there is currently about seven volunteers working at the centre.
