Kaylie and Lize are Hoërskool Secunda’s best performers

Learner of Secunda and Hoogenhout receive awards from Department of Education

HIGHVELD – Hoërskool Secunda was the best performing school in the area with their matric results, obtaining a 97 per cent pass rate.

Their matric learners of 2019 obtained 177 distinctions in total and 69,7 per cent of their learners passed with university exemption.

Hoërskool Secunda’s top matric learner is Kaylie Strydom who achieved eight distinctions and received an award from the Department of Education for being among the top 10 performers in Mpumalanga.

She clinched distinctions in Afrikaans, English, mathematics, life orientation, accounting, life science, physical science and Alpha mathematics.

Lize Smith of Hoërskool Secunda also obtained eight distinctions.

Lize Smit and Zegert Nieuwoudt of Hoërskool Secunda obtained distinctions. Lize got eight distinctions and Zegert three.

She achieved distinctions in Afrikaans, English, mathematics, life orientation, accounting, computer studies (CAT), life science and physical science.

Niël Gertenbach, Tahseen Karim, Janine Orsmond, Johan Viljoen and Niné Rudolph each obtained seven distinctions.

Ntyokozo Mzizi obtained six distinctions while D’Preez Hattingh, Jolise Bakker and Tintswalo Ndhlovu each obtained five distinctions.

Prajit Gopal, Juanita Degenaar and Anjali Morar each obtained four distinctions.

Hoërskool Oosterland’s matrics of 2019 also performed well with a 95,7 per cent pass rate and 110 distinctions in total.

Oosterland’s top matric learners are Dano Sadie and Xander Luus with six distinctions each.

Dano obtained distinctions in Afrikaans, English, mathematics, physical science, life science and life orientation and Xander achieved distinctions in English, physical science, information technology, computer studies (CAT), tourism and life orientation.

Oosterland’s other top learners are Chanel Cloete and Mohini Couden who obtained five distinctions each and Rutendo Zhonga and Kayla Jensen who obtained four distinctions each.

Hoërskool Hoogenhout’s matrics obtained a 94,8 per cent pass rate.

Hoogenhout’s best learner is Vishal Bhaga who obtained seven distinctions and he received an award from the Department of Education for being one of the top 10 learners in Mpumalanga.

He clinched distinctions for English, Afrikaans, mathematics, physical science, accounting, life science and life orientation.

Ruan Siemens of Hoogenhout also obtained seven distinctions.

The other learners of Hoogenhout who excelled with their matric results, are Juwairiah Carrim, Chanté Koen, Daniel MacFarlane, Lindokuhle Biyela and Monetté Steyn who each obtained four distinctions.

Evander High School’s matrics obtained a 83,4 per cent pass rate and 15 distinctions in total.

Their best learner, Nothando Mahlangu, obtained two distinctions.

Highveld Park High School’s matric pass rate is 81 per cent and they have 24 distinctions in total.

Wandile Mavimbela is Highveld Park’s best learner and she obtained four distinctions in mathematics, computer studies (CAT), English and physical science.

Thistle Grove Combined School achieved 91,8 per cent, Kusasalethu Secondary School achieved 87 per cent, Thomas Nhlabathi Secondary School achieve 84,5 per cent, Chief Ampie Mayisa Secondary School achieved 83,1 per cent, Kiriyatswane Secondary School achieved 82,6, KI Thwala Secondary School achieved 79,2, Osizweni Secondary School achieved 72,6, Vukuqhakaze Secondary School achieved 67,5 and Sizwakele Secondary School achieved 62,1.

• The Highveld Muslim School achieved a 100 per cent pass rate. The four learners achieved 14 distinctions between them.
