According to Brig Leonard Hlathi, provincial police spokesman, Ms Thekiso was reported as missing in Vosman on 18 November. A breakthrough came when Mr Rudolph Ngwenya (28) was arrested in Calcutta near Hazyview for being in possession of Ms Thekiso’s stolen car.

Brig Hlathi said Ngwenya was also linked to Ms Thekiso’s murder.

He first appeared in the Bethal Magistrate’s Court on 24 December and the case was postponed to 7 January.

The Provincial Commissioner of police in Mpumalanga, Lieut- Gen Mondli Zuma, condemned this murder, as well as that of Ms Siphiwe Mtshweni (25) who was found murdered in Tweefontein on Saturday, 28 December.

” I am disturbed by the heartless killing of women in this province. It is paramount important that people should talk if they have differences, rather than killing each other,” said General Zuma.
