Secunda murder plot suspect is released on bail

According to Capt Dineo Sekgotodi, spokesman for the Mpumalanga Hawks, Mr Thokwana allegedly contacted the hit woman on Tuesday, 17 December and informed her that he was going ahead with the plan alone since she was apparently delaying him. 

SECUNDA – Mr Klass Thokwana (54), who is accused of conspiring to assassinate his ex-wife (42), was granted R5 000 bail by the Secunda Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 20 December.

Mr Thokwana is expected to appear again at the same court 11 March 2020.

The Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation team in Secunda arrested him on Wednesday, 18 December,  after he allegedly hired a 39-old-woman to assist with the planned plot.  

The meeting between the two detailed how the alleged planned plot will be executed.

The so-called hit woman later withdrew from the plan and informed the victim of the alleged murder plot.

The matter was reported to the Hawks for further investigation.

The investigating team was alerted and in an intelligence-driven operation, Mr Thokwana was arrested on his way to the victim’s house.

The suspect was in possession of his legal 9mm Norinco firearm ant the time of arrest. The police seized the weapon.
