Siphosendumiso wins the Miss Heritage Beauty Pageant

Ms Masango wants to do awareness campaigns about the dangers of crime and child abuse.

eMZINONI – The newly crowned Miss Heritage 2019, Ms Siphosendumiso Masango, is calling on her peers to embrace and love their culture.

She said embracing your culture and respecting other cultures plays an important role in building the spirit of ubuntu.

Ms Masango won the Miss Heritage Beauty Pageant in September.

She expressed gratitude and said it is like a dream come true as she always wanted to be an ambassador for the African heritage and culture.

“It important that we know our roots.

“Most of my peers cannot recite their clan names, this means we do not know who we are.

“Culture defines us and it plays a crucial role in keeping us grounded.

“We need to preserve our culture for future generations.”

She will also encourage her peers to stay away from drugs and other crime-related matters.

Ms Masango wants to do awareness campaigns about the dangers of crime and child abuse.

She believes it is everyone’s responsibility, including parents, teachers, religious and traditional leaders to prevent child abuse.

“One of the biggest reasons children are so vulnerable is because of their inability to speak about it.

“It is very important that children are given information that is age-appropriate about sexual abuse so that they can recognise the behaviour.

“We should teach them techniques to handle dangerous situations and encourage them to open up about it.

“I will consult various stakeholders to help me.”

Ms Siphosendumiso Masango is the titleholder of Miss Heritage 2019.
