Eskom is not changing banks, issues fake news alert

HIGHVELD – Eskom issued an alert today, 20 November, warning consumers of a fake message about the electricity giant’s banking details.

A message is circulating on social media that Eskom and its subsidiaries will change banking institutions and the new banker is Discovery Bank.

Ms JuanitaVogel, Eskom’s Mpumalanga spokesman, said this information is false.

“Eskom banking details have not changed. Please use the banking details appearing on official Eskom invoices and statements,” said Ms Vogel.

She asked consumers to report scams on Eskom’s toll-free crime line 0800 11 27 22 or email investigate@eskom.co.za.
