SECUNDA – Residents are frustrated with people dumping their refuse illegally in Kuschke Street in Secunda.
According to Mr Tim Denny, DA councillor, he and volunteers of Ward 30 cleaned this area up about two months ago, but it is again littered with rubbish.
“Part of the problem is the municipality’s failure to remove the refuse,” said Mr Denny.
“What do they expect the community to do if they do not remove refuse for three weeks?
“However, we appeal to the community not to dump their refuse illegally, but to rather take it to the dumping site.”
Mr Denny urged residents to take photos if they see people illegally dumping refuse, so that he can take the matter further.
He and his team are planning on cleaning up this area within the next week again.
Ridge Times asked three employees in the communications department of Govan Mbeki Municipality for comment, but has not received any feedback at the time of going to print.
