Annual Worldwide Aquathon: It’s time again to get into the water for charity

People can do an hour or two, but those who last the full three hours receive a certificate.

SECUNDA – Aquazone at Lake Umuzi will be the place to be on Saturday, 9 November when Aqua Antics Swim School and Water Fitness Classes is again taking part in the annual Worldwide Aquathon.

This is the seventh Worldwide Aquathon and the fourth time that Secunda will be part of the event.

This three-hour marathon of water aerobics is held to promote the benefits of, and bring more awareness to aqua fitness.

The first year 42 countries took part.

This has grown over the years to 280 venues in 80 countries. In November these venues – from porta pools to massive public pools to even in the sea – will swing into action with three hours of non-stop, music-fuelled aqua exercises.

People can do an hour or two, but those who last the full three hours receive a certificate. The Worldwide Aquathon Day raises money for charity.

The Aquathon event in Secunda will be raising money for the MC Foundation.

This day is a lot of fun, even for children.

Ms Theresa Grey, organiser, said parents must be with their childen in the water at all times. The Aquathon kicks off at 9am and will be in full throttle until noon. Entry fee is R50 per person.
