EXCLUSIVE ONLINE- Young woman raise R27 000 on 22nd birthday to help less fortunate

“I am where I am today, because of people who helped me, and now I am ready to help others.”

Ms Dineo Nomahlubii Mpantsha has open hands and want to serve the community of Ermelo.

Her mother was a person who gave back to the community and that where she recall she got her empathy from.

She was born and bred in Soweto, but when she came to Ermelo, she saw a lot of people living in poverty, barely keeping their heads above water.

“It is rough here, I also come from a rural area, but it seems like the situation here is even worse.”

Her main passion is to make people’s lives better.

She said: “When I was in Grade 9 my mom was diagnosed with cervical cancer.

She remembers her mother saying telling her to wipe her tears, because there’s no time for that in this world.

When her mother died, she made it a priority to no longer just live for herself, but for others as well and to make a difference wherever she goes.

Ms Mpantsha got involved in public relations (PR) at a salon at the age of 16 to earn extra money.

She began dancing and acting on various TV shows as well as presenting at different events.

“I began the Hlubii Hustle Foundation, it is a description of a shorter version of my name together with giving back to communities.”

One of her highlights was raising R27 000 for her 22nd birthday to help 22 families with groceries in Johannesburg last year.

“I went door to door. There was an old lady who looked at me with tears in her eyes, she hadn’t eaten a proper meal in months.

“She ate food that she found in rubbish bins or what ever leftovers people were willing to share with her.”

This year Ms Mpantsha  is looking forward to the same initiative for her 23rd birthday, by hosting four birthdays for four different people in Ermelo.

The funds raised will be used to donate food parcels to 23 families and stationery packs will also be handed over to learners for the new school year.

“I believe in this lifetime, you cannot stand alone, you need people who are willing to help you.

“I am where I am today, because of people who helped me, and now I am ready to help others.”
