GMM residents can expect loadshedding today

According to the Eskom schedule, the towns in the Govan Mbeki Municipality will be affected at different times.

HIGHVELD – Eskom will continue with Stage 2 loadshedding for most of today, 18 October.

The electricity giant said it will implement Stage 1 loadshedding until noon, and thereafter revert to Stage 2.

This means that until midday, the electricity supply will not be affected in most areas.

Stage 2 loadshedding will begin in the afternoon.

According to the Eskom schedule, the towns in the Govan Mbeki Municipality will be affected at different times.

Eskom said in a statement this morning that they have lost capacity at Medupi Power Station due to coal handling and ash handling issues.

“We sincerely apologise to our customers and South Africans, particularly to our matric­ulants, for the inconvenience. We will keep South Africans informed about the status and our recovery efforts throughout this period.”

Eskom customers can check their loadshedding schedules on the Eskom website (loadshedding.eskom.co.za) or through the customer contact centre on 0860037566.
