UPDATE: eMzinoni uproar

BETHAL – The R38 between Bethal and Standerton and the R35 to Morgenzon are open today, 20 August.

NJP Transport is cleaning up the debris on the road surface on the Morgenzon Road this morning.

According to Mr Alf Byleveldt from Jelani Security, there are still some obstructions in the road to Standerton and motorists must drive with caution.

He said things seem to have somewhat calmed down in the area.

A heavy police presence can be seen.

Roads around Bethal still obstructed

BETHAL – Protesters were burning objects and blocking roads through the night on the R38 towards Standerton, as well as the R35 towards Morgenzon.

A truck was set alight on the R35 during the night which is being towed away this morning.

Although protesters are not actively busy, the road is not clear enough and safe to drive through.

A car that did pass through, is now stranded with two flat tyres.

Schools in Bethal will be open today.
