eMZINONI – Police recently arrested nine alleged members of the Stragel Gang Group.
The suspects are between 13 and 16 years old and face assault charges.
Police said the arrests came after several cases were opened and residents helped to gather information.
Const Cynthia Mtsweni, police spokesman, said a stakeholder meeting was held and yielded positive results which led to the arrests.
Ms Betty Ndaba, MMC for Corporate Services, played a big role in organising the meeting.
Const Mtsweni said most of the suspects are not from eMzinoni, but rather from eMbalenhle and Davel.
“We are working around the clock to make more arrests,” concluded Const Mtsweni.
The suspects were granted bail.
