Trichardts’ own rescue divers need your help

With the summer around the corner, Delta1 Rescue Diving would like to ask the community for funding or sponsors for them to do what they love in assisting the community.

TRICHARDT – Mr Andries Lee from Delta1 Rescue Diving has been diving for seven years.

With summer around the corner, Delta1 Rescue Diving asks the community for funding or sponsors.

Sponsorship will help them to assist the community and to do what they love.

“Floods and drownings will soon pick up and we want to assist wherever we can and respond as soon as possible. The funds will be used for fuel for our vehicle and vessel, swift water equipment, servicing of equipment such as our compressor, extra dive cylinders and when we need to remain at a scene for more than a day.”

Because Delta1 Rescue Diving is a non-profitable organisation, they need the support.

Diving equipment is very expensive and they urgently need new equipment.

“I did a commercial diving course in 2011 with the police. It is one of the most difficult courses to do,” said Mr Lee.

Even though he felt that he was emotionally strong enough to do rescue dives and recover bodies, it is still one of his most difficult specialised services they offer.

“I pressure myself to give my best and be the best in what I do. I saw the need for such a service and decided to put my own company together.

“I wanted to support the community. God gave my team and I the talent to do these kind of dives and retrievals. I use this talent as God wants and needs me to.”

Delta1 was registered on 10 July last year as an emergency service under Public Safety and Control.

Their registration and paperwork are in place and Mr Lee has the experience and training.

“It is a privilege, a blessing and honour to see a family’s relief and gratitude when we recover a missing body. That is why my team and I love what we do.”

As soon as he is called out to a scene, he ‘restricts’ his emotions.

He knows that for him to accomplish distancing himself, is a gift from God.

It is always difficult for him when he has to search for a child’s body.

“To see how thankful a family is, keeps me going. I really try just to switch off and do my job.”
