eMBALENHLE – Treasure Hunters Care Centre looked like a brand new créche after Mandela Day on Thursday, 18 July.

This small pre-school that provides care for toddlers and learners from an impoverish neighbourhood in eMbalenhle, was the centre of attention on Madiba Day when several businesses and individuals pulled together to make a change.

The learners were treated to soup, lucky packets, games and entertainment, face painting and crafts.

Work teams began several weeks ago to upgrade the premises by erecting a new fence and a name board, planting a vegetable garden, providing a fresh layer of paint to the jungle gym and cheering up the place.

A Wendyhouse was provided to serve as a new classroom and a storage container was donated. Secunda Mall’s personnel cleaned up the grounds around the school.

Everything – from building material to bicycles and party packs – were donated by various businesses, individuals, schools and churches. They are His Way Family Church, Oregon Spur, John Dory’s, Panarotti’s, Ridge Times, United Motors, Secunda Mall, Seeff, Wikus Muller Property Group, Laerskool Kruinpark, Oranjegloed Primary School, Phumelela Maintenance Service, Mamonkwe Transport and Petroleum, LetroSigns, Panacea, Royal Kids, Food Lovers Market, Evander Bakery/ Engen Garage, SaniTech and Solly’s.

The kids and visitors are enjoying sing-a-long entertainment.
