Dog bite victim needs surgery after vicious attack in Evander

The animal initially went for his throat, but when Mr Juwaki covered his neck, the canine pounced onto Mr Juwaki's crotch.

EVANDER – Mr Professor Juwaki, the Zimbabwean man who was mauled by a dog in Evander on 26 June, was transferred to a state hospital in Pretoria on Monday.

According to his wife, Ms Alice Rabson, the 30-year-old will need specialised surgery to repair the damage to his genitals.

“The doctor said the stitches inserted during the emergency operation, is not holding in place,” explained Ms Rabson.

A dog that looks like a pit bull, attacked Mr Juwaki that evening as he was walking in Kelvin Street.

The animal initially went for his throat, but when Mr Juwaki covered his neck, the canine pounced onto Mr Juwaki’s crotch.

Another pedestrian was attacked within minutes after Mr Juwaki was rushed to the hospital.

The dog is still at the Highveld Ridge SPCA pending a police investigation.
