UPDATE- Residents in Extension 7 voice their struggles with water shortage

Ms Khetiwe Madonsela, Ext 7 resident, crouches down near the murky water of a river that trickles down over plastic bags and other household waste, fills her cupped hands and takes a sip.

Upriver other residents are seen washing and rinsing their clothes while a little girl walks along the river with her pink slippers, fills up a bucket while her mother patiently awaits her return to the RDP house where they reside in Ext 7.

Residents here have been without water for more than a year, and it seems as though the longer they wait, the more habituated to their circumstances they become.

It’s not their choice though, unfortunately this has become their fate.
